Janine Kitson, Independent candidate for the federal seat of Bradfield, held her first volunteer webinar in readiness for the 2022 federal election. Janine Kitson, Independent Bradfield candidate said:
"I held my first BradfieldcandoBetter volunteers webinar in early January because I knew I could not afford to take my foot off the 'electric car pedal' with the real possibility of an early federal election in 2022. May 2022 increasingly looks like when the federal election will be held with the highly contagious Omicron variant now spreading like wildfire. NSW hospitals risk having no intensive care or general wards beds available by the end of January. Supermarket supply chains are being disrupted because workers are getting sick or are in forced isolation. Prime Minister Scott Morrison's and NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet’s 'let it rip' strategy has been a health disaster. By opening up too early they have abandoned their first responsibility to the nation - to protect its citizens. It seems clear that the federal election will now be held in May 2022. We also need to ramp up the pressure on climate action, federal integrity and safeguarding the ABC. The election timeframe provides me with the opportunity to build widespread support for these key campaign issues. I am encouraged to believe the Bradfield electorate want change and a MP who will vote to protect Australia's environment and public health system based on evidence-based science and not on politics. Regardless, I am not taking my foot off the electric pedal."
